Membership Benefits

  • All members are allowed free access to our resource centre with its 2 film and fiche scanners, 18 computers, traditional film and fiche readers and all resources, including and extensive collection of books, maps, fiche, film, CDs and DVDs.
  • Nine of the most important subscription sites such as Ancestry and FindMyPast, are available free to members and paying day visitors researching their family history in the resource centre.
  • Country, interstate and international members receive free research for two hours per year.
  • Our official quarterly magazine, The Genealogist, is included in membership.
  • Discount on seminars and workshops.
  • Access to special interest groups (small yearly fee).
  • Surname interest database (members can add up to six names they are researching)

  • Members have reciprocal rights with the following interstate societies. To use any of these interstate libraries, please present your membership card, along with a letter from the Office Manager stating you are a financial member (this letter is valid for three months). Members of the above societies wishing to use our library must present their membership card at the entry desk for verification and sign the admission book. This dispensation does NOT apply to members of interstate societies who reside in Victoria.
